Radical Muslim or Legally Insane?
Defense attorneys argue that a Muslim who believes God approves of his mission to kill infidels is legally insane. Should the jury use this definition to acquit a Jew-murderer? The Judge refused to answer the question. As a result, the jury was unable to figure out if Haq Naveed met the legal definition of insanity and the judge declared a mistrial. The prosecutor never thoroughly addressed the issue, and now Haq will face a second trial, presumably with these troubling questions left unanswered. Is every Palestinian suicide bomber and jihadist legally insane? Or are they just radical Muslims who should be held to account?
