Mayor of Lansing Supports Hamas

On April 4, 2008, we called on the Mayor of Lansing, Michigan Virg Bernero to rescind an award that he had given to the Executive Director of CAIR-Michigan Dawud Walid. We cited information concerning CAIR's ties to Hamas and other groups and Walid's own defense of terrorist-related charities.

We sent Mayor Bernero detailed information regarding this and more.

Unfortunately, the Mayor decided NOT to rescind it. Instead, he has chosen to embrace CAIR, a group that the U.S. government calls a front for Hamas. This, after he told a television station that he would seriously consider rescinding it, if the information was correct. Well, the information was correct. The Mayor just ignored it.
